They’re not self-conscious about being around humans, nor do they guard their space or react defensively when they’re approached. What is so special about capybaras?

Capybaras are the largest rodents in the world with adults weighing anywhere between 33 and 100 lbs. They’re also one of just two living species of semi-aquatic rodents, which means they’re used to living in water. They have a long, pink nose and a short, brown tail that curves up at the end.
Capybaras are also mostly herbivores but will eat fish and fruit occasionally. They were named after the guarapita capybara–a type of rodent native to South America–and they’re often called guinea pigs because they have similar features and even share some characteristics (they both have long snouts, for example).
But what makes them special is their intelligence, curiosity, and personality. Capybaras are very curious animals who will explore everything around them if given half an opportunity! Sometimes this can be problematic for humans trying to care for or study capybaras in captivity because these animals are so smart that they may escape their enclosure or get into trouble for being too curious by trying to interact with and explore things that aren’t theirs.

Why do animals love capybaras so much?

One of the most interesting things about capybaras is that they’re very social animals. Their social behavior is also what makes them so adored by humans. Capybara are more friendly than any other animal and they don’t behave like most other animals in the wild. It’s not just a matter of being tame- they actually want to be around people!
Capybara will happily spend time right next to humans and even sleep in their beds at night, snuggling up to them. In captivity, capybaras have been known to carry infants on their backs for long periods of time without harming them. They’ve been seen playing with toys, as well as eating ice cream and playing fetch with a stick. These playful behaviors from capybaras give them an endearing quality that no other animal has or can possess without human intervention. The reason why capybaras enjoy spending time so close to people is because it gives them the opportunity for quality interactions with their favorite species – humans!

Why is the Internet obsessed with capybaras?

The Internet is obsessed with Capybara because they’re so cute! What’s not to love about a little brown rodent that’s super social, friendly, and approachable?
